Education System in Canada

The tertiary education system in Canada is divided into:

  • Certificate level, generally for a year
  • Diploma level, for one or two years
  • Advanced Diploma, generally two or three-year programs
  • Bachelor degrees, awarded after four years of full-time study
  • Post-graduate Diplomas/Certificates, for one or two years of study
  • Master’s degrees, available after a bachelor degree to excel in a certain subject, for one to two years

INTAKES
Fall (August) and Spring (January) are the two major intakes.

Fall is the major intake as all the university options are open for admission, whereas, Spring when certain choices are not available.

Application Deadline- It is generally from October to March for Fall intake and for spring intake the deadline is 15 October. However, the deadline for submitting the application varies from university to university and course to course.

Supporting Documents In The Canada

The basic requirements for the application are the Letter Of Recommendation, TRANSCRIPT, and FINANCIAL DOCUMENTS.

Students have to apply online both for Bachelors as well as Masters and each University has a different fee.

For Undergraduate:

  • Sealed & stamped 10th, 11th and 12th Official Transcripts from school
  • 2 letter of Recommendations from school teachers.
  • Statement of Purpose
  • Certificate of extra-curricular activities & other achievements, if available

For Masters:

  • Official Transcripts from the college/ University
  • 2 Academic recommendations and 1 from the employer (if the candidate has any work experience)
  • Statement of Purpose
  • Essays, if required by the University
  • Detailed CV       
  • Certificate of extra-curricular activities & other achievements, if available

Student Visa

  • The student visa/ permit allow an individual to enter Canada as a full time student at an accredited community college, university or any other institution. In order to be eligible to apply for a student visa, a student must be enrolled in a program of study that culminates in a degree, diploma or certificate and the institution should be listed under Designated Learning institutions (DLI) list authorized by CIC.
  • There are three categories where students can File their visa applications which are S.P.P., General, University.
  • Visa applications may be submitted at any of the ten application centers across India.
  • VFS Office provides information on procedures applicable to applicants who wish to apply for a visa to travel to Canada.
  • Students have an option to lodge their Canada visa application through online link available at CIC website.
